Women in Music Featured Artist: Solange

Solange Knowles refused to be ignored in 2016. She offered up an album, A Seat At The Table, which was produced from her heart and the world fell in love. Her unapologetic attitude and willingness to speak up on hard societal issues perhaps was the best part. To add the icing on the cake, Beyonce and Solange made history as the first Sisters to have a No. 1 album in the same calendar year.

Knowles recently performed at President Obama’s Farewell party to the White House last week. But that is not all because the singer just signed on to hit the stage again the same day as President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. However, Solange will not be attending because she will be at the Busboys and Poets inaugural Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance event, an alternative to Trump’s inauguration. It is no secret that she is an activist in her own right, we are convinced she will continue to make conscious great music in 2017.
