President Obama says Farewell to the United States this Week

Barak Obama said his farewell in a speech this week. The 44th President of the United States addressed the nation and went over all that he had accomplished within the last 8 years. He then went on to thank everybody who had worked and assisted him on his journey for change. While he may not have done everything that he wanted to do, it is fair to say this was a very good presidency. During Obama’s two terms in the White House, he has decreased the unemployment rate, ended the Iraq war, provided over 20 million people with affordable healthcare and made America a safer place that everyone can call home.

Barak affectionately turned his attention to his wife Michelle Obama and stated,

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the South Side for the past 25 years, you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend. You took on a role you didn’t ask for and you made it your own, with grace and with grit and with style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody.

A true sentiment of their love, Malia Obama set next to her mother and shedded a few tears. The Obamas took their last walk on the White House lawn and exited stage left gracefully. Yesterday the president gave Joe Biden the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor for his lifetime of service.

Perhaps the most exciting part of Obama leaving office is that he is leaving with a bang! He achieved so much in such a short amount of time and whether people want to admit it or not the United States is a better place because of him.
