When Rihanna announced earlier this year that she was releasing a beauty line, naturally we all knew it would be a success. Like everything the pop princess touches, her beauty line surely would be no different, right? Her Hip Hop has talked about Rih’s countless business ventures, several times and you can tell she puts her heart and soul into anything she puts her name on. Well, the ‘Wild Thoughts’ singer has done it again when she launched Fenty Beauty earlier last month and sent the makeup industry into a frenzy. Even makeup lines that have been around for years are now scrambling to keep up.
It’s no secret that Rihanna drop 40 shades of her foundation that literally included just about every woman on the face of the planet. This means the lightest woman and the darkest could now enjoy full coverage in a foundation that was actually right for them. Unlike, most makeup lines who leave darker complexion women to figure it out on their own, Fenty Beauty came out of the gate getting it right. The result, makeup lines are now trying to highlight that they too cater to all skin tones. And the ones who did not get the clue before Fenty Beauty’s launch are quickly putting in orders to their manufactures just to try to compete.
This is changing the beauty game. Although women have been complaining for years that makeup (especially women of color) was not inclusive, now the beauty industry is finally waking up. It took a celebrity who is a business mogul to fill a void and women everywhere are clearing out the shelfs to get their hands on some Fenty Beauty.
Congrats Rihanna, you have truly done it again and this time it is making a change in a positive direction for women no matter what skin color they have!
